Newborn Photography that Comes to You

If you’re expecting or just had a baby, chances are that you’re stressed and overwhelmed! Getting out of the door with a new baby is unexpectedly difficult. It seems like they need a new diaper the second they’re in the car seat, plus trying to anticipate everything they might need while you’re out seems impossible at first! Now add in a baby who hates the car and screams the entire time, and just forget it all. That’s why an in-home session makes the most sense for many parents.

At Little Bear Photography, I come to you and setup a mini-studio in your home so that you have one less thing to worry about when you have a newborn baby. I bring everything – props, accessories, blankets, lighting, baskets, wraps, and hats. In fact, I often have parents use this opportunity to catch up sleeping or laundry while I photograph their baby. If there are siblings, they are also happier to be able to play in their own space and relax after they are done taking photos. No need to worry about keeping them occupied in a strange studio space.

Newborn Safety

Newborn babies are extremely delicate and susceptible to injury and illness. I’m familiar newborn safety, and never attempt poses that are unsafe. In many complicated poses that are seen on Pinterest and social media, I do these as composites with a parent/spotter, and baby is never put in danger or treated like a prop. I am also completely up to date on all vaccines (including COVID and the booster shot) and receive an annual flu shot as soon as it released. In instances where my children or I am unwell, I will reschedule avoid unnecessary germ exposure.

Posed Sessions

These sessions focus mostly on your baby, but also generally include several family and sibling poses. A posed newborn session generally lasts about 2-4 hours, and they do require some advanced preparation. I send a guide to help you get your baby and your family ready. Posed newborn sessions are best done within 1-2 weeks after birth, with the exception of NICU babies or preemies, who can be photographed up to about 1 month old.

Lifestyle Session

A newborn lifestyle session is more low key and natural in feel than a posed session. This session focuses on the family life and home, including nursery/interiors. If you prefer a candid, editorial feel with less of a time investment, this may be a better session type than the posed. I don’t bring props, but will bring one or two plain white wraps. These sessions tend to last about 2 hours, and will definitely include family and sibling photos. Grandparents and pets are also welcome. Timing for lifestyle sessions is more flexible, and I am happy to come any time you feel comfortable after birth, up to 3 months.
